PREVU* Skin Sterol Test

Framingham and Inflammatory Markers Study

This 60-patient study examined the relationship between skin cholesterol and inflammatory serum markers such as VCAM-1, ICAM-1 and C-reactive protein. The analysis further evaluated the different risk factors using 10-year Framingham Global Risk score. Skin cholesterol showed an independent correlation with Framingham score, suggesting skin cholesterol as a simple predictor of Framingham score. Skin cholesterol also showed a correlation with inflammatory markers, particularly ICAM-1.
